About Us
Founded in 1922, the Manhattan Beach Jewish Center (MBJC) has been a cornerstone of Jewish life in Brooklyn’s Manhattan Beach neighborhood for over a century. With a strong foundation in Torah, community, and tradition, MBJC continues to flourish as a warm and welcoming Orthodox synagogue serving a diverse and multigenerational membership.
In coordination with with the beloved neighborhood Shtieble (98 W End Avenue), MBJC blends the intimacy and warmth of a shtieble with the structure, resources, and reach of a long-established shul. The result is a unique community that feels both personal and rooted — open to all, and rich in tradition.
Under the leadership of Rabbi Akiva Eisenstadt, MBJC offers a full spectrum of spiritual, educational, and social programs, including: A Sunday Hebrew School for children in public school, a vibrant kollel offering daily learning opportunities, shiurim and adult education throughout the week, Russian-language classes and programming, and Shabbat youth groups and family-friendly events.
The synagogue is supported by committed lay leadership including our President Andrew Birnbaum, Chairman of the Board Ari Kurlander & Treasurer Gregg Salzman
Whether you're seeking meaningful tefillah, engaging Torah study, or a community that truly feels like home, MBJC welcomes you with open arms and an open heart.
